⛵ **GOLDEN GLOBE RACE 2026 | MARA KVSETH – LATEST WEEKLY CALL**
🌊 **Storms, radio communication struggles, and a fleet trying to stay connected in the middle of the Southern Atlantic!**
Norwegian solo sailor **Mara Kveseth**, aboard SHOWGIRL, is in great spirits as she continues her journey around the world in the Golden Globe Race 2026.
In this latest satellite phone conversation with GGR’s Georgie Vintner, Mara reports that everything aboard SHOWGIRL is going well, and she is happy with her recent decisions navigating the challenging weather systems.
⛵ **SMART STORM DECISIONS!**
Mara feels confident about her storm tactics and believes she’s made good choices, even through the recent low-pressure system that affected the fleet. SHOWGIRL is sailing well, and Mara is pleased with her progress.
📻 **THE GGR RADIO NETWORK — STAYING CONNECTED!**
Despite being separated by hundreds of miles, Mara says the sailors are communicating by radio at least twice daily.
She’s pleased that Guy deBoer and Damien Guillou can now be reached. However, communication with some competitors remains difficult.
📡 **WHY CAN’T THEY HEAR PÄR AND GUIDO?**
Mara confirms that she hasn’t been able to contact Pär Nyman for some time, despite trying different frequencies and schedules.
Meanwhile, Guido is experiencing antenna problems, meaning he can hear other sailors but struggles to transmit his own voice.
❤️ **NEWS OF PAT LAWLESS AND LOUIS KERDELHUÉ**
Georgie shares updates about two retired competitors.
🇮🇪 Pat Lawless is continuing towards the Canary Islands after his disappointing retirement. He’s doing well physically but understandably saddened by the end of his GGR campaign.
🇫🇷 Louis Kerdelhué has returned to France and is focusing on his health. At just 21 years old, he remains optimistic about future sailing adventures.
Mara admits that it was difficult to see Louis fall behind and eventually leave the race, especially after sharing radio conversations with him.
🌍 **LIFE IS GOOD ABOARD SHOWGIRL!**
Despite the challenging weather, occasional communication difficulties and the emotional news of fellow sailors, Mara remains positive, focused and determined.
Her message is reassuring: **SHOWGIRL is doing well, and the adventure continues!**
