🌊 THREE STORMS IN TWO WEEKS! Eight hours or more at the helm, freezing cold, soaking wet — but Daniel Pinsky is still fighting his way towards the Cape of Good Hope!
In his latest Golden Globe Race 2026 safety call with Georgie Vintner, Israeli sailor Daniel Pinsky, aboard EXODUS, shares the extraordinary challenges of the past two weeks in the South Atlantic.
⛵ "It’s been quite a wild two weeks for me."
🌪️ THREE STORMS, LITTLE REST!
Daniel has endured three powerful storms, including two in quick succession. Unable to find a sail configuration that allows his boat to steer herself reliably in the worst conditions, he has sometimes been forced to hand-steer for eight hours or more without a break.
Cold, wet and completely exhausted, Daniel admits the experience has been physically demanding.
⚠️ THE CHALLENGES CONTINUE
🔹 Minor sail damage and leaks aboard EXODUS — but nothing major or beyond repair.
🔹 Wet clothing and equipment that are almost impossible to dry in the cold, cloudy conditions.
🔹 Weather warning messages reportedly arriving 24 hours or more after being sent — sometimes only after the storm has already begun! The GGR team is investigating the communication delays.
🔹 A constant battle to keep moving while recovering his strength.
❤️ A HEARTFELT MESSAGE TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS
Despite the hardships, Daniel is in good spirits and deeply moved by the support he is receiving from home.
He shares a special Shabbat message with his family, friends, supporters and the EXODUS community, reflecting on how much their encouragement means to him.

Daniel has crossed the Greenwich Meridian into the Eastern Hemisphere and hopes to round the Cape of Good Hope within the coming week!
After three storms, difficult nights and countless hours at the helm, he’s finally enjoying better sailing conditions and making good progress again.
