Both the U.S. SailGP Team and Mubadala Brazil SailGP Team sustained major damage to their F50s at last month’s event in Sassnitz, Germany. This kickstarted a massive repair effort by the team at SailGP Technologies – the league’s US $10 million state-of-the-art facility in Southampton, UK – to get both teams back on the water ahead of the next event. The gargantuan task included a rapid-turnaround refit and comprehensive structural testing and system upgrades for Brazil, and the construction of a newly fabricated port hull section (bow to stern) for the U.S. The catch? They have only 16 days to complete the job.
