⛵ **GOLDEN GLOBE RACE 2026 | ISA ROSLI – WEEKLY CALL**
🌊 **45-knot gusts, 5-metre seas, a windpilot nearly lost overboard, and EIGHT HOURS in cold ocean water scraping barnacles!**
Canadian solo sailor **Isa Rosli**, aboard OLLEANNA, has had an incredibly challenging week in the Golden Globe Race 2026!
In this latest call, Isa reveals just how much he’s been dealing with while sailing alone across the South Atlantic.
🐚 **THE BARNACLE BATTLE CONTINUES!**
Isa spent almost EIGHT HOURS in the water cleaning barnacles from OLLEANNA’s hull. He’s now removed approximately 95%, but the remaining barnacles are difficult to reach, with some growing as large as 4 cm!
🌪️ **TWO STORMS AND A NEAR DISASTER!**
After encountering two powerful low-pressure systems, Isa faced winds of 35 knots, gusting to 45 knots, and rough seas of 3–5 metres.
The violent conditions loosened the mounting bolts of his Windpilot self-steering system. One bolt was almost completely out, and another was hanging by just a few threads!
Fortunately, Isa spotted the problem and secured everything before losing his windpilot overboard.
🔋 **BATTERY TROUBLES AT SEA**
Isa’s batteries are struggling to hold their charge. Although his solar panels and hydro-generator are working, he’s having to carefully manage his electricity consumption, especially overnight.
🥶 **EIGHT HOURS IN COLD WATER TAKES ITS TOLL**
After spending so long cleaning the hull, Isa noticed the skin on his hands becoming extremely wrinkled and beginning to peel. Another unexpected challenge of maintaining a boat alone in the middle of an ocean!
🔧 **MORE REPAIRS ABOARD OLLEANNA**
From a loose stove gimbal to damaged stitching on the dodger, Isa still has a list of jobs to complete while keeping OLLEANNA moving towards Cape Town.
📻 **KEEPING IN TOUCH**
Despite everything, Isa remains positive, communicating with other GGR competitors by HF radio and receiving weather information and messages from family and friends.
❤️ He also sends a heartfelt greeting to Wendy, Leila, his mother, sister, nieces and everyone supporting his incredible journey.
🌍 **NEXT CHALLENGE: CAPE TOWN AND THE INDIAN OCEAN!**
With the Atlantic storms behind him for now, Isa is looking ahead to the next major stage of his solo circumnavigation.
