6 TINY SAILBOATS, NO WIND… AND A STORM IS COMING! 🌪️ | Globe 5.80 Transat Tracker Update Day 3

⛵ NO WIND NOW… BUT A MAJOR STORM COULD BE COMING! 🌪️

Six tiny 5.8-metre (19ft) sailboats are struggling to make progress in almost no wind during the McIntyre ALMA Class Globe 5.80 Transat 2026 Qualifier, sailing 650 nautical miles from Lagos, Portugal, to Marina Rubicón, Lanzarote.

But the biggest challenge may still be ahead!

In this 3 November 2026 Tracker Update, Don McIntyre reports from Lanzarote as a powerful low-pressure system develops near the Azores, potentially bringing 35–40-knot gusts and seas building to 4 metres around 8 November! ⚠️

The fleet is barely moving, with some boats covering only 24–45 nautical miles in 24 hours. And with strong headwinds forecast, escaping the approaching weather could be extremely difficult.
