FREESTYLE FRENZY! | HIGHLIGHTS FROM DAY 1 IN FUERTEVENTURA 🇪🇸
The 2026 Fuerteventura PWA Grand Slam burst into life with a spectacular opening day as the first two rounds of the Men’s Freestyle Single Elimination were completed in 20-30 knots of wind. While the top seeds safely negotiated their opening heats, the challenging conditions still produced several tight battles and an impressive display of world-class freestyle.
The standout performer was 2024 World Champion Lennart Neubauer, who posted the two highest scoring heats of the day with 41.78 and 42.30 points to immediately lay down a marker. Reigning World Champion Yentel Caers also advanced despite a slightly rusty opening performance, while Balz Müller thrilled spectators with his trademark creativity, landing the highest scoring move of the day for an 8.40-point shifty. Takumi Moriya, Steven Van Broeckhoven, Dieter van der Eyken and Jacopo Testa also progressed to the quarter-finals, setting up an exciting conclusion to the Single Elimination. With a similar forecast expected today, the Men’s and Women’s Single Eliminations are both scheduled to be completed with action kicking off at 11:00am.
