Matteo Iachino is the 2026 Men’s Foil Slalom World Champion 🌍🏆
After winning in Sylt, he led the tour into Japan but was behind heading into the final day. Then drama struck, a huge catapult in Elimination 2 left him in the losers final and in need of a miracle to retain the title… and somehow it happened! Pierre Mortefon and Amado Vrieswijk crashed out in the winners final of elimination 3, whilst Matteo won the elimination and climbed back onto the event podium in 3rd.
Now on equal points for the season with Amado, it went to a tiebreak and Matteo won the tiebreaker and took the title! After so many years on the receiving end of a tiebreak loss, finally it went in his favour.
The Foil Slalom World Title is his second of the season, after also winning the Slalom X World Title earlier in the year 🏆🏆
