There is something alive in the net!
It’s a mobula ray, trapped in illegal fishing gear, still fighting for its life.
Our crew acted quickly and released it back into the Mediterranean. It was one of 3,202 animals saved during Operation SISO 2026.
Working alongside Italian authorities, we removed 39.5 kilometres and more than 13 tonnes of illegal fishing gear, including hundreds of octopus traps recovered from the seabed.
The Mediterranean is not empty. It is full of life, and every life is worth defending.
