Most regulator manufacturers require a servicing between 1 & 3 years, or when it hits 100 to 300 dives (whichever comes first) depending on the brand.
Some brands have free or discounted parts program if you keep up your servicing at authorized dealers, but require the old parts to be sent back (this has become less common in recent years).
Some lines like Hog or @NexDive (shown) actually allow you to order your own parts to service it as long as you take their training course.
Should old parts be returned? At least shown to the customer before disposed of to prove the work was done? Or returned, but rendered unusable (ie cutting i-rings or diaphragms like the cideo shows)?
