At 1AM, Golden Globe Race 2026 skipper Matt Woodside looked out from his yacht and spotted a massive freighter just a mile off his bow! Thankfully, a radio conversation confirmed the ship could see him on AIS.
⛵ In his latest fortnightly satellite phone call with GGR founder Don McIntyre, Matt shares the highs, lows and hilarious moments of life alone at sea.
After a frustrating battle through the Doldrums, Matt has finally found his sweet spot, sailing at 7 knots! His back is improving, his boat is holding together, and his sense of humour is as strong as ever.
