In this edition of Let’s Talk About Diving, meet Daan Verhoeven.
A freediver, photographer, and filmmaker, Daan has spent more than two decades immersed in the world of breath-hold diving and more than a decade documenting its most extraordinary stories. His work has appeared in publications including The New York Times, National Geographic, The Guardian, and many others, while his cinematography has helped bring underwater stories to global audiences through documentaries such as Netflix’s The Deepest Breath.
At Diving Talks 2026, Daan will share his unique perspective from behind the camera, revealing how images and film can capture not only the beauty of the underwater world, but also the emotion, dedication, and humanity that lie beneath the surface.
🎥 Watch Daan’s introduction video and tell us: what is the most powerful underwater image or film you have ever seen?
