What does a biologist bring onboard a fishing vessel inspection? 🔬🌊
As you probably know by now, our ships spend months at sea and travel to remote parts of the ocean that very few people ever reach. Having biologists onboard means these expeditions can also become opportunities to observe, document and collect scientific data from places where research can be difficult, expensive or simply very rare.
Depending on the campaign, they can document the species we encounter, observe their behaviour and record where they feed, travel and gather, collecting information that helps us better understand the ecosystems we’re working to protect.
And when our crews witness something unusual at sea, having scientific expertise onboard means those observations can become valuable data rather than simply an incredible encounter.
Because to protect the ocean, we need to defend it. But we also need to understand it. 🔬🐋🌊
So, what’s actually inside a marine biologist’s bag? Watch to find out. 👀
