Today is World Octopus Day, probably one of our favorite days of the year! It is a day to celebrate these extraordinary animals, but also to fight for their protection. 🐙
By day 32 of this season, our crew had removed 10,816 illegal traps from Greek waters and released 848 octopuses back into the sea.
Combined with our previous campaigns, this brings the total since 2024 to 52,316 illegal traps removed and 3,003 octopuses saved 🐙💜
Behind these numbers are long days spent searching for hidden lines, hauling heavy traps from the seabed and checking every single one for life. We return every octopus released to the sea where it belongs.
But our campaign does not end today. We want to keep the Sea Eagle, the Conrad, and their crews at sea until late October, while continuing to gather evidence and push for lasting legal protections for octopuses in Greece.
This World Octopus Day, help us keep going. Donate through the link and support the crews protecting octopuses and marine life throughout the Mediterranean. ✊💙
