Meet Jialing Cai, one of the youngest speakers ever to take the Diving Talks stage.
At just 19 years old, Jialing is already an internationally acclaimed underwater photographer, science communicator, and the 2023 Ocean Photographer of the Year. For the past eight years, she has dedicated her work to documenting one of the ocean’s most extraordinary yet overlooked worlds: plankton.
Her images have captivated audiences around the world through National Geographic, BBC News, and China Central Television, proving that even the smallest marine creatures can tell the biggest stories.
At Diving Talks 2026, Jialing will share her journey from photographing tropical plankton to preparing for deeper, colder, and more challenging expeditions as a Global Underwater Explorers (GUE) NextGen Scholar. Discover how curiosity, science, photography, and technical diving come together to reveal an ocean that few people have ever seen.
Watch Jialing’s introduction and tell us: What hidden part of the underwater world would you most like to discover?
"Let’s Talk About Diving" is a speaker introduction series leading up to Diving Talks 2026, where some of the most respected voices in the underwater world come together to share ideas, stories, and inspiration.
