Krill feeds whales.
But whales also help sustain krill.
When whales feed and return to the surface, they release nutrients that fertilize the ocean. This “whale pump” helps fuel the phytoplankton blooms that krill depend on.
For millions of years, whales and krill have sustained each other.
Industrial krill fishing is now weakening that balance, extracting the very foundation of the Southern Ocean food web.
We must stop the plunder before it is too late.
