It’s been another successful collaboration on sea Country between AIMS researchers, Bardi Jawi Rangers, Nyul Nyul Rangers and the Kimberley Land Council. This is their ninth season monitoring along the Kimberley coastline in northwestern Australia.
This ‘two-way’ learning about the marine ecosystem is part of the Northern Australian Marine Monitoring Alliance (NAMMA). The Alliance is dedicated to culturally appropriate co-designed science to support healthy sea Country.
NAMMA offers Traditional Owners comprehensive training and access to user-friendly, innovative technologies, empowering the collection and ownership of data needed to care for Country. At the same time, our researchers benefit from Traditional Ecological Knowledge helping them better monitor and understand Australia’s tropical oceans.
