Meet Robin Cuesta—cave diver, explorer, instructor, and founder of Indonesia’s first cave diving center, Sulawesi Dive Trek.
Robin has dedicated his career to exploring submerged caves hidden beneath Indonesia’s remote islands, where every dive has the potential to reveal places no one has ever seen before. But his expeditions go beyond exploration. As a PhD researcher at Gadjah Mada University, he is connecting cave diving with science, studying karst systems, groundwater, freshwater security, and the hidden processes that shape these extraordinary underwater environments.
At Diving Talks 2026, Robin will take us deep into Indonesia’s submerged caves, sharing the challenges of exploration, the discoveries that await beyond the guideline, and how cave divers are contributing to scientific knowledge about some of the planet’s most important—and least understood—freshwater ecosystems.
🎥 Watch Robin’s introduction and tell us: What fascinates you most about cave diving—exploration, science, or the unknown?
"Let’s Talk About Diving" is a speaker introduction series leading up to Diving Talks 2026, where some of the most respected voices in the underwater world come together to share ideas, stories, and inspiration.
