Feeding the baby corals at AIMS

Our settled baby corals (the technical term is “spat”) may be tiny, but they’ve got hearty appetites 🪸😋

Every day they get fed on a mix of microalgae and rotifers (microscopic aquatic animals).

These foods are both grown on site. We’re big fans of local produce!  🌱

The corals only stay in their settlement tanks for around a couple of weeks. They will soon move onto the next stage of their preparations to return to the Great Barrier Reef.
