The Northern Australian Marine Monitoring Alliance (NAMMA) connects AIMS scientists with Traditional Owners to help monitor sea Country.
This is a powerful way to bring together millennia of ecological knowledge and the capacity of Indigenous rangers with Western science techniques and state-of-the art technologies.
Current NAMMA members include:
🌊 Bardi Jawi Rangers in the Kimberley, Western Australia
🌊 Anindilyakwa and Umbakumba Rangers in Groote Eylandt, Northern Territory
🌊 Traditional Owners and rangers of Mer, Erub and Ugar in eastern Torres Strait
Together we can reach further into our precious marine environments, understand them in different ways, and better protect sea Country.
Thanks to Tata and Accenture for their support with this work.
